Early filers of CoCs in Negros Occidental: Governor, Vice Gov., 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th congressional hopefuls

Incumbent 5th District Rep. Marilou Arroyo-Lesaca was among early filers of Certificates of Candidacy (COC) for the 2022 Presidential and Local Elections at the Negros Occidental Provincial Capitol Social Hall in Bacolod City today.

Arroyo-Lesaca is seeking re-election for a second term.

Others who also filed their COCs today, October 1, were Provincial Board Members Manuel Frederick Ko and Andrew Montelibano of the province’s 3rd District.

Also Board Members Jose Benito Alonso and Andrew Martin Torres of the 4th District.

Ko, Montelibano, Alsonso and Torres are seeking re-election.

Also among early CoC filers on the first day of the 8-day filing period, was 33-year-old Jonry Gargarita of Barangay Progreso, Binalbagan who is running for the position of vice governor.

Commission on Elections (Comelec) officials however said that he had incomplete requirements and was advised to return after accomplishing the needed documents.

Former 6th District Congresswoman Mercedes Alvarez-Lansang also filed her COC for representative of the district.
Alvarez-Lansang was accompanied by her husband, Army Major Dranreb Lansang, her father the incumbent 6th District Congressman Genaro Alvarez, and her legal counsel.

Provincial Board Members Araceli Somosa and Rommel Debulgado of the 1st district, 6th District Board Member Jeffrey Tubola; and 5th District Board Member Hernan Gatuslao also filed their CoCs for re-election.

Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson also arrived to file his COC for re-election. Also Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer filed his CoC for re-election.

Gov. Lacson was accompanied by 1st District Congressman Gerardo Valmayor, Jr. who in turn also filed for re-election.
Vice Gov. Ferrer was accompanied by 4th District Congresswoman Juliet Marie Ferrer, who also filed her own COC for re-election
Summing up, there were 15 individuals who officially filed their COCs today, Oct. 1 before the Provincial Comelec that temporarily holds office at the Capitol Social Hall.*
