Ceneco thanks MCOs for the success of its virtual 43rd AGMA

The Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Ceneco) conducted its virtual 43rd Annual General Membership Assembly (AGMA) Sunday, September 26 at the CENECO Mabini main office.

The assembly was attended online by 13,070 registrants from the cities of Bacolod (8,598), Bago (1,659), Talisay (894), Silay (885) and municipalities of Murcia and Salvador Benedicto (1,034).

Due to restrictions on mass gatherings, this year’s AGMA with the theme, “Arise as One: Championing National Development and Building Sustainable Communities through Rural Electrification”, was held virtually via Zoom video conferencing and Facebook Live.

The event was graced with the virtual presence of Senator Win Gatchalian and Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles who was the Assembly’s Keynote Speaker.

In his speech, Secretary Nograles expressed his support to the conduct of the Virtual AGMA. He is also an avid supporter of electric cooperatives who are committed to providing opportunities for sustainable communities, for he is likewise an advocate of the same cause. Cabsec Nograles further lauded CENECO for its commitment to 100% sitio electrification.

Senator Gatchalian, who is also the Chairperson of the Committee on Energy, congratulated CENECO for holding the virtual AGMA despite the challenges of the current situation.

He thanked CENECO and the Local Government Units (LGU) for their initiative to raise the issue on increased power rate due to the damaged sub-marine cable. He also reiterated the importance of paying bills on time as it is vital to the operation of the Cooperative.

He reminded the consumers to stop illegal activities as it affects the performance of the Coop and the consumers themselves.

The AGMA also served as a venue to award the outgoing members of the board of directors and to induct the newly-elected and re-elected representatives.

The second part of the activity was the business meeting which tackled three important agenda, among which is the proposed amendments to CENECO’s Articles of Incorporation and By-laws which was approved with a few modifications.

The Collective Bargaining Agreements of the two Unions of CENECO were also approved during the Assembly.

The activity concluded with a raffle wherein registered members won cash prizes ranging from P2,000 to P50,000. This is CENECO’s way of giving back to its MCOs, it’s statement said.
