A MEMORIAM TO THE LATE OLIMPIO LACSON Y PAMOCENO (1940-2021)

September 23, 2021

(Written by his nephew Karl Romeo Lacson, a historian and genealogist; Son of his youngest sister Gemma Lacson de Soland)

It is with deep sorrow and much love that the Family of Manuel Lacson y Obsanga (1917-1995), who traces their lineage to Teodoro Lacson and Anastasia Cuaycong from Sagay City [the most famous family member of this Lacson branch was Eusebio Lacson y Espanola (1915-1970), former Mayor of Tibiao (1967-70) in Antique Province and first cousin to Manuel], has to announce that their beloved brother and uncle Olimpio Lacson y Pamoceno, has passed away on 17th September 2021 at the age of 80 after a brief illness inBacolod City.

Olimpio Lacson y Pamoceno

“Olim“, as he was just simply called by his close relatives and friends, was the eldest son of Manuel Lacson y Obsanga and Aurora Pamoceno vda. de Lacson (1921-2006). He was born, some years before the Japanese invasion of Negros Island started, on 17th December 1940 at the Hacienda of his granduncle Manuel Lacson y Cuaycong in Fabrica, Sagay.

Together with his older sister Teresita, now a retired elementary school teacher, in her mid-80s, and his parents, they sought protection there during the war. However, after the end of World War II, his parents later decided to move in a part of Bacolod City.

From then on, the provincial capital of Negros Occidental was the reference point for the whole family. Here his parents raised their children, 11 of them, to be decent people and gave them a happy childhood.

Unlike his younger siblings, Olimpio stayed same as Teresita, lifelong unmarried.

As the deceased was loved and well respected by his entire family, he will be lovingly remembered by his surviving sisters: (1) Teresita Lacson y Pamoceno; (4) Julieta Lacson vda. de Estrellanes; (7) Three of his siblings; (3) Erlinda Lacson vda. de Juros; (5) Reynaldo Lacson y Pamoceno; and (6) Manuel Lacson y Pamoceno who already died some years before him.
