Cop shot dead in Bacolod; Drug personality killed in Himamaylan

A member of the Bacolod City Police Office Drug Enforcement Unit (BCPO DEU) was shot dead yesterday afternoon in the city.

A known drug personality in Himamaylan City, meanwhile was also shot dead in that city earlier yesterday, Aug. 29, 2021.

BCPO Station 1 Commander, P/Maj. Ramel Sarona confirmed to reporters that 37-year-old P/Staff Sergeant Joseph Nepomuceno, a member of the BCPO DEU, was shot dead at around 5 p.m. yesterday at Rosario Street in Barangay 38, Bacolod.

Sarona said Nepomuceno, who was riding his scooter when fired upon by a riding-in-tandem suspects, sustained multiple bullet wounds.

The anti-drug unit member was declared dead on arrival at a hospital. Police investigations are still on, the Bacolod Police Station 1 chief added.

IN HIMAMAYLAN CITY, 43-year-old Marvin Flores Jansen, resident of Purok Casoy, Barangay Mambagaton in the city, was shot dead by a riding-in-tandem at around 12:30 yesterday afternoon at Crossing Lubi in Brgy. Talaban, also in the city.

The Himamaylan City Police Station report said Jansen was on probation under the plea bargaining agreement in relation to Republic Act 9165 or known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

Initial police investigations showed that Jansen was on his way to Binalbagan town to meet a bamboo buyer, when shot by motorcycle-riding suspects. He died on the spot.* (With report from RMN DYHB Bacolod)
