August 26, 2021

Eunice Jimenez-Mittal, born and raised in Bacolod City, and currently in Connecticut, USA, is set to compete for the World Championship of Public Speaking of Toastmasters International on August 25, 2021.

She recently bagged the championship of the International Prepared Speech Contest of Toastmasters International District 75- Philippines and proceeded to compete in the Regional 14 Level besting the other district champions from China, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

Eunice is the eldest of the four siblings of one of Negros’ largest car rental companies, MECA- J Car Rental Services.

Married to an Indian national based in the United States, she set the title of her winning speech anchored on cultural differences and language barriers on the Indian phrase, Bas Poocho, which means, “Just Ask.”

She has been a member of Toastmasters International, a non-profit educational organization geared towards excellent communication and exemplary leadership for 16 years and currently the Vice President for Education of her home club, First Farmers Toastmasters Club.

The International Speech Contest is an annual event held in every Toastmasters Club in the Philippines, of which the winners reach the National Level to represent the District 75 Philippines in the World Championship of Public Speaking. The contest for this year is held online via Zoom, but all the same, the essence of effective and excellent public speaking skills continues to be pertinent in the judging criteria of the contest.

Eunice is one of the Toastmasters from Bacolod who continue to excel in Public Speaking and Leadership based on the guidelines of Toastmasters International. She is joined by Jay Cris Famoso, DTM (Distinguished Toastmaster) awarded last June 30, 2021 as President’s Distinguished Division D Director leading the 13 clubs of Negros and Panay; and Gay Marie Gane-Tiu and Irene Jacqueline Rubin, who have completed over 40 speech projects and serves as club, area and division officers, awarded as Distinguished Toastmasters, the highest level in the communication and leadership track of Toastmasters International.

Indeed, these individuals share the glory of these awards with pride as Bacolodnons taking place in the international scenes of public speaking.
