Infinity Pool at San Carlos City’s People’s Park now open

The San Carlos City Government (in Negros Occidental) held the blessing ceremony and soft opening of the infinity pool at its People’s Park late yesterday afternoon, Aug. 23.

The construction of the swimming pool, installation of filtration system and accessories, sunken bar and lounging area and pump room started on March 2019 until February 2020, with a total cost of P9,123,034.38 under the city’s Development Fund for Tourism 2018-2019.

Architect Kimbie Acabal-Ursal of the City Planning and Development Coordinators Office (CPDCO) said that the whole project is still unfinished and that they still have more plans for the structure. She said that they will be following the initial plan for the project by adding drinking bars and expanding the area even more when the budget will be approved.

Ursal also said that the design process for the improvement of the whole people’s park is ongoing. She also mentioned that the blessing would have been held April 2020 but due to the city being under the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) and with the surge of COVID-19, it was delayed.

Bishop Gerardo Alminaza officiated the blessing.Present during the event were City Mayor Renato Y. Gustilo together with Dr. Archilles Ponferrada, Focal Person of San Carlos City Cultural Heritage Council and Head of the People’s Park Management Office, Vice Mayor Christopher Paul Carmona, Sangguniang Panlungsod Members Philip Gerard Maisog, Committee on Tourism, Benito Gustilo Jr. and Dr.Wilmer Yap.

Officer In-Charge of City Waterworks Department Engr. Aris Yap, the staff of CWD, CPDCO, PPMO and SCCCHC were also present.* (SCC LGU Info)
