Sen. Zubiri says both Benitez and Leonardia ‘are capable leaders’

Senator Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri yesterday afternoon said both former 3rd District Congressman Albee Benitez and Bacolod City Mayor Bing Leonardia are his “dear friends… who are capable leaders”.

That’s why, he said, it is difficult for him to say whom to support in the coming election.Benitez already confirmed he will be filing his candidacy for mayor of Bacolod in the 2022 polls.

Incumbent Mayor Leonardia is expected to file for reelection for his third and last term.During yesterday’s press conference via Zoom, Zubiri, the Senate’s Majority Floor Leader, told newsmen he had been closely working with Benitez especially on sugar industry concerns.Zubiri said he is also closely working with Leonardia especially on the already approved city hospital and coliseum projects.

They are both capable leaders so may the best man win. We will respect whoever the people choose, Sen. Zubiri also said, and jokingly added that when he is in Bacolod he will just hold a motorcade alone.* (Arman P. Toga)
