Cabacungan elementary and high schools finally own their sites

After decades of waiting, the Cabacungan Elementary School and the Cabacungan National High School – Junior High School in Barangay Cabacungan in La Castellana town finally realized their dream of owning the sites where their campuses have been squatting.

The Municipality of La Castellena, through the efforts and representations of incumbent Mayor Rhumyla Nicor-Mangalimutan made this possible, with the full support of the town’s Sangguniang Bayan members.

Friday afternoon’s Signing of the Deeds of Donation have sealed the ownership of the lots to the two public schools.

Signing for the La Castellana government during the August 6, 2021 ceremonies were Mayor Nicor-Mangilimutan, Vice Mayor Manuel Vera, Cabacungangan Elem. School (CES) Principal Florijyll A. Villar, and Cabacungan High – Junior High School (CNHS) Principal Zaldy B. Rodrigo, with the Department of Education – District of La Castellana 1 Principal Incharge Ma. Tressa Elbanbuena, CES Teacher’s League President Ramonita T. Gillang, Sangguniang Bayan members, other municipal officers, teachers and school personnel witnessing the event.

The ceremony coincided with the ongoing Brigada Eskwela 2021 of the two donee-schools which made the occasion more significant, and in tune with the brigada’s theme, “Bayanihan Para sa Paaralan”.

Elisa E. Dagoy and Gladys D. Indino were the masters of ceremony held at the CES auditorium.

SINCE 2006

Mayor Mhai-mhai Nicor- Mangilimutan, in her message said that the original or first surveys done for the municipal government-owned lots for donation were done June 23 to 30, 2006 but were realized in 2016 and 2018. The approval of the surveys for individualized titling was realized on August 9, 2019.

She said two lots are donated for the elementary and one for the high school.

The lady mayor revealed during the program that the CNHS-Senior High School will also have its own site after the required processes are completed, saying that among the requirements involves dealing with the illegal settlers in the lot to be donated.

The local chief executive also said that the purpose of donating to the schools is not because the municipal government wanted to have an accomplishment. She said it means a lot especially for the generations to come.

“Now you can do anything you want with your own lots… I hope this will be able to help us especially in giving our children a better future… This is now the end of your (CES & CNHS) illegal settling in the town of La Castellana,” the mayor also said.* (Arman P. Toga)
