La Castellana Mayor Rhumyla Nicor-Mangilimutan, Silay City Mayor Mark Golez and Hinigaran Mayor Nadie Arceo are also calling on Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio to run for president next year.

Retired P/Col. William Señoron, convenor of the Alliance and Broadcasting Committee (ABC)- PADAYONA INDAY SARA-Negros Occidental, meanwhile reported that there is increasing support to the call.

Señoron, who spearheads the movement, said most of the three mayors’ Sangguniang Bayan members and barangay captains have also joined in urging Duterte-Carpio to run, including the Guardians and the LGBTQ community in Bacolod and Negros Occidental also expressed support to the call.

Mayor Nicor-Mangilimutan herself confirmed to newsmen yesterday (Aug. 2, 2021) that she and other town officials, will support the mayor of Davao if she decides to run for president next year.

“For me, women empowerment… There are a lot of things a woman can do that a man can’t,” the La Castellana mayor said when asked on what compelled her to support Duterte-Carpio, adding that she knows best being also a lady mayor who is very much familiar in running the executive branch, and having been familiar with the needs of the people in the grassroots level.

“It is better to have a president who was once a mayor because she knows the real situation of the people. One thing is, she managed her city well, in terms of governance, which should be emulated by other local government officials,” Nicor-Mangilimutan said.

Mayor Mhai-mhai, who is a member of the United Negros Alliance (UNegA), said she is hoping that Negros Occidental will only support one presidential candidate in the next year’s polls.

She said she was joined by the town’s Sangguniang Bayan members with Vice Mayor Manuel Vera, Liga ng mga Barangay chairperson Noemi Nicor and Sangguniang Kabataan chairperson Herald John Guinanao, in expressing their support to Duterte-Carpio.

Retired P/Col. Señoron, convenor of ABC-PADAYONA INDAY SARA, meanwhile told newsmen that Hinigaran Mayor Nadie Arceo also made public his support to Duterte-Carpio.

Señoron and his group had a courtesy call on Mayor Arceo this week, who also told newsmen that the mayor also led Hinigaran officials and representatives of various organizations, including sectoral groups, is assuring their support to Duterte-Carpio’s bid for the presidency, should she decide to run.

Silay City Mayor Mark Golez was the first mayor of Negros Occidental to publicly express full support to the Duterte-Carpio for President to run for president in the 2022 elections, Señoron said.

Golez and Arceo are both members of Love-Negros.

Duterte-Carpio had earlier expressed her willingness to run for the country’s top position.

Señoron also said that members of the Philippine Guardians Brotherhood, Incorporated-Negros Occidental and its Bacolod City Executive Council led by Chito Magalona and Arturo Mixdon also signed a manifesto of support for Duterte–Carpio to seek the presidency.*
