IDENTITY: A Solo Exhibit By Tasha B.

August 4, 2021

What is your first love? That’s right. What, not who.

Meet Tasha. For her, those were the screaming colors ready to jump off the canvas with things they carry: emotions, weight, but most of all, identity.

Come August 7, 2021, they’re ready to be exhibited for the world to see a part of what Tasha’s seeing, or most importantly, how she sees it.

This young artist talks about how she was drawn into this world of lines and shades. A locally known artist, Pie Saturnino gave painting lessons to what was a seven year old then Tasha. Enjoying it but never taking it seriously, that was unsuspectingly her yellow brick journey down the painter’s road. Like how everyone else drifts from her first love, so did she. Golf and football stole her attention away from painting until recently. Pressures in life brought her back to her first love.

“Incidentally, there was this Bible study group where my mom and I attended in my Dad’s ancestral house. And in one instance, they planned to have painting sessions. As two of the young members who was in the field of arts, they offered to coach us and since I was free at that time I indulged in their invitation and the rest they say is history.” Tasha in her own words.

She was always fond of advocacies but was never confident to go solo. On this fateful Saturday as she unleashes her art, Tasha will take another step closer, as this young lady would admit, she’s already grown.

“A few strokes and I was brought to a wonderful world full of colors and abstract designs. This is where I found my true identity. I fell in love with the art again and it was through this medium that I got to express myself,” she said.

Yet this explicable talent she could take credit for all her trainings and hard work, Tasha chooses rather something different to show us, not just her art but her heart as well, as to who really much credit is due.

“I thank God for this talent for it has led me to the group that inspired me and my works. I have faith that HE has more plans for me in the future.”
