Prov’l gov’t distributes incentives to Project FREE scholars

A total of P1,948,300 worth of stipend/incentives were released to 1,000 Project FREE (Flagships to Reach Educational Excellence) scholars of the Provincial Government, in a distribution held at the Capitol Social Hall in Bacolod City, yesterday (July 30).

The scholars who belong to the Batch 2 grantees have already graduated their post-graduate studies at the University of St. La Salle – Bacolod.

The Negros Occidental Scholarship Program Division, headed by Karen Dinsay, and Provincial Treasurer’s Office facilitated the activity.

The Project FREE is an ongoing Provincial Government of Negros Occidental open to all public elementary and high school teachers of the province who would like to pursue masteral or doctoral degrees at USLS.

It is a joint partnership between the provincial government, University of St. La Salle – Bacolod, Department of Education, and Commission on Higher Education, aimed at upgrading the skills of teachers that will redound to the improvement of the scholastic performance of schoolchildren.

Gov. Lacson said that he hopes that the scholarship has helped improve the teaching skills of the teacher-scholars for the benefit of more students.

He also said that Negros Occidental has currently registered a total of 2,756 graduates under the Project FREE program.
NOSP record shows that there are 1,150 Project FREE scholars enrolled at USLS belonging to the Batch 3 of scholarship grantees, at present.
