Bacolod, NegOr still under GCQ-HR from Aug.1 to 15
The City of Bacolod and the cities and towns under the Province of Negros Oriental (NegOr) will remain under General Community Quarantine with Heightened Restrictions (GCQ-HR) from Aug. 1 to 15.
The Province of Negros Occidental (NegOc) will remain under regular GCQ Aug. 1 to 31.
The local government units can appeal for a different classification, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said.
Roque said, to stem the surging cases of the Delta variant of COVID-19, President Rodrigo Duterte last night approved proposals to retain Metro Manila and several areas under General Community Quarantine with Heightened Restrictions (GC-HR) from Aug. 1 to 15.
To remain under the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) from August 1 to 7 are the City of Iloilo, Province of Iloilo, City of Cagayan de Oro and City of Gingoog.
The areas under Modified ECQ (MECQ) from August 1 to 15 are: Bataan, Ilocos Norte, Lapu-Lapu City and Mandaue City.
Other areas under GCQ-HR until August 15 are Ilocos Sur, Cagayan, Bulacan, Laguna, Lucena City, Cavite, Rizal, Naga City, Antique, Aklan;
Bacolod City, Capiz, Negros Oriental, Zamboanga del Sur, Misamis Oriental, Davao City, Davao del Norte, Davao de Oro, Davao Occidental, and Butuan City.
Under regular GCQ for the month of August are Baguio City, Apayao, City of Santiago, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Quezon, Batangas, Puerto Princesa, Guimaras;
Negros Occidental, Zamboanga Sibugay, City of Zamboanga, Zamboanga del Norte, Davao Oriental, Davao del Sur, General Santos City, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Sur, and Cotabato City.
The rest of the country will stay under modified GCQ for the entire month of August.
Roque said the risk classifications are subject to the appeals of the local government units.
“It would be good to adopt stricter measures for the protection of the people,” the President said during a taped televised address late last night (July 28, 2021), in approving the country’s risk classification for the month of August.
“Itong variant Delta is causing so much scary stories for us kaya kung sabi na (so if they say) four times more aggressive, more transmissibility is faster than the usual COVID-19, nakakatakot nga (it is really scary). So the best way really is to double the time in the inoculation of people,” he added.
The latest quarantine classification levels of the cities and provinces were recommended by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) during a meeting yesterday, Roque meanwhile said.
The country has so far recorded more than 1.5 million coronavirus cases, including 119 cases of the highly transmissible Delta variant. Twenty-five of these Delta cases were reportedly detected in Metro Manila.* (With reports from Manila Bulletin, Inquirer, Eagle News/Net25)
