Says Town On Its Way to Becoming a City

Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose “Bong” Lacson congratulated the Municipality of Cauayan for establishing on its own “sariling sikap” a new public market.

Lacson, who cut the ceremonial ribbon that officially opened the multi-million-peso market this morning with 6th District Congressman Genaro Alvarez and Mayor John Rey Tabujara, said the income of the town is expected to be boosted by the new structures that cater to the demands of Cauayanhons.

He said the 51-stall New Cauayan Public Market located in a 2-hectare lot along the national highway at Barangay Poblacion, less than half a kilometer from the municipal hall, is a step towards the cityhood dream of the town.

Lacson hinted that the only requirement for Cauayan to become a city is to boost its annual income.

During the inauguration, livelihood funds were also distributed to various barangays.

New equipment, facilities and transportation units of the municipality were also blessed during the ceremonies.
