8 CHMSC Students Arrive Home After 6-Month Japan Internship

FINALLY, HOME. The eight BSHM students arrived at BREDCO Port, Bacolod City on September 8, 2020.

Eight Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) students of Carlos Hilado Memorial State College (CHMSC), who left for Japan for their 6 months internship program from January 9 to July 10, 2020 at Chuo Food Services Company, Ltd, arrived home in Negros Occidental on Tuesday, September 8, 2020.

They were stranded in Japan for more than a month due to the global pandemic.

They are BSHM students Angela S. Ching, Ma. Queenie L. Go, Angelica T. Posidario, Omar Jay T. Nuñez, Rovinica D. Puzon, and Joab S. Javellana who underwent their internship at Chuo Food Services Company, Ltd. in Tokyo, Japan, and BSHM students Elaiza V. Bugalon and Jay Lynn T. Suico who underwent their internship at Chuo Food Services Company, Ltd. in Osaka, Japan for six months.

They left Manila via 2GO Travel on September 7 after getting their travel clearance from the National COVID-19 Inter-Agency Task Force.

The eight students were subjected to mandatory swab tests upon arrival at BREDCO port in Bacolod and were picked up by their respective families and local government units as part of the protocol.

Some were instructed to go on home quarantine and some were brought to quarantine facilities of their respective LGUs to observe the 14-day quarantine period.

The eight students returned to Manila on September 2 and were quarantined at the Eva Macapagal Quarantine Facility in Manila courtesy of the Department of Transportation. With negative swab test results, they were cleared to travel on September 7.

I would also like to thank ADCA International Internship and Consultancy Services, Chuo Food Services Company, Ltd. and Center for External Affairs headed by Rhoderick K. Samonte for all the efforts extended in this endeavor,” Nieves A. Barato, Hospitality Management On-the-Job-Training supervisor, said.

“Above all, we thank God almighty for the safety and protection of the students,” she added.

GOING HOME. The eight BSHM students, together with students from a university here in Negros who also underwent an internship program in Japan, aboard the 2Go passenger vessel bound to Bacolod City on September 7, 2020.

The safe return of the students was made possible with the help of CHMSC’s partners, all concerned national government agencies, the Office of the Governor, and the local government units of Bacolod City, Cadiz City, E.B. Magalona, Escalante City, San Enrique, and Silay City.

The international internship program was part of CHMSC’s partnership agreement with Asia Development Center Association (ADCA) International Internship and Consultancy Services, Chuo Food Services Company, Ltd. and Commission on Higher Education.

The program is part of CHMSC’s Internationalization mandate and effort to produce globally competent graduates.
