CENECO, BACIWA Defer Power, Water Service Disconnection

September 10, 2020

The power and water utilities in Bacolod confirmed that no service disconnections will be imposed while the city is under the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ).
NDB got confirmation from Central Negros Electric Cooperative’s (CENECO) Institutional Services Division that there will be no disconnection until September 30 since the city is under MECQ.

However, Ceneco is urging consumers to pay their bills to avoid inconveniences, adding that once disconnection resumes it will require payment of all overdue bills.
Meanwhile, a check with the Bacolod City Water District’s (BACIWA) General Manager’s Office also confirmed that it is also suspending disconnection of services to consumers with overdue bills until October 31.

BACIWA also confirmed to NDB that its office will be closed to the public effective today, September 10. It will open and start accepting bill payments on October 5 by virtue of MECQ.
Baciwa said the “No Disconnection” and No Penalty Charges” policy is extended until October 31.

It also said that reading of water meters and delivery of bills for September 2020 are also suspended, but the September billing will be based on August billing consumption.
In an earlier advisory, Baciwa indicated that the October bill will reflect the following:

Current bill for October 2020 (less estimated September bill),
Bill for September 2020 computed based on August bill,
Arrears as of August 31, 2020, and
Others

The current bill will become due on or before the due date indicated on the bill. Consumers can pay their account as of September 2020 on staggered payment until October 31.
Baciwa is however urging consumers to pay via authorized collection centers indicated at the back of the bill.*
