Relentless combat operations in Negros yield 4 NPA militias
Four members of the NPA’s Yunit Militia were captured by the Army’s 94th Infantry Battalion on Thursday, (August 27, 2020) following an encounter at the vicinity of Sitio Cunalom, Barangay Carabalan, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.
The captured NPA militias were identified as Francisco Verde Jr., 38 years old; Jeobel Pacheco, 41 years old; Geneboy Verde, 32 years old; and Ronald Pacheco, 22 years old.
Seized from their possession were one caliber 22 rifle; two revolver pistols; one home-made shot gun; 40mm grenade launcher ammo, and other war materiel.
One of the operating troops sustained a gunshot wound below his left armpit during a five-minute firefight. He is now in stable condition.
The captured YMs and the seized firearms were turned over to the Himamaylan City Police Office for proper disposition.
Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Angelo Guzman of the 94th IB confirmed that they were receiving reports about the persistent extortion activities of the communist-terrorists in the area in the past week.
Major Gen. Eric Vinoya, the Commander of the 3rd Infantry Division, commended the 94IB for foiling the illegal activities of the communist-terrorist group in the area.
He further directed the unit to pursue the remaining members of the group and never allow them again enter in the communities and extort from the people especially during this trying time.
“Terrorists like NPAs have no place in our peace-loving communities; hence, we will not rest until they will be rendered irrelevant and our communities are free from the threats that these terrorists pose,” Maj.
