33 Brgys. in Western Visayas Have Clustered Covid-19 Cases
Thirty-three barangays in Western Visayas have clustered cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) for the July 31 to August 7, 2020 period.
“We define clustering as two or more cases in the last two weeks,” Dr. Marie Jocelyn Te, medical officer spokesperson of the DOH-CHD 6, in a phone interview said yesterday.
She said the highest clustering of cases was recorded in this city with 17 barangays while Bacolod City has 11 barangays with clustered cases; Negros Occidental has four, and Iloilo province has one.
Te said the DOH continues to encourage local government units to have their asymptomatic Covid-19 patients placed in temporary treatment and monitoring centers (TTMF) instead of home quarantine to ensure that they follow the minimum health standards.
She added that while others claim that they have separate rooms with CR, yet the LGU could not monitor their daily routine or practices such as observance of safe physical distancing, wearing of masks and washing of hands.*
