CENECO EXPLAINS SERIES OF TALISAY-SILAY POWER INTERRUPTIONS
Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Inc. consumers in the cities of Talisay and Silay, and portion of Bacolod experienced intermittent power interruptions in the past week.
The occurrences of unscheduled power interruptions in the above-mentioned areas were caused by trip-offs of the cross country Bacolod-Silay 69kV transmission line and momentary line faults in our distribution lines.
The series of interruptions started when the 5MVA power transformer of Lopez substation in Silay tripped off last August 2, Sunday, due to exposure to a variety of electrical, mechanical and thermal stresses. And after a thorough evaluation and testing which lasted for several hours, our technical personnel concluded that the said power transformer could no longer be repaired.
To restore power to Lopez Feeders 1, 2 and 3 (LF1, LF2, LF3), load was shifted to Panaogao Feeder 2 (PF2). Due to capacity issue, portion of PF2 load was then shifted to Talisay Feeder 1 (TF1).
CENECO apologizes for any inconvenience caused by these unscheduled power interruptions. Your Electric Cooperative is in the process of replacing the busted 5MVA power transformer with our 10MVA available unit from our Murcia Substation in order to address the power problem and loading capacity problems in the affected areas.* (Ceneco)
