NPA Suffers Consecutive Setbacks; Fall of Fronts Looms

August 3, 2020

CAMP PERALTA, Jamindan, Capiz- The Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) terrorists in Negros Island suffered consecutive setbacks due to the non-stop efforts of the Army’s 3rd Infantry Division in liberating Negros from the decades long insurgency.

This after the Army troopers through the help and cooperation of the local populace scored anew in apprehending another three high ranking personalities of Komiteng Rehiyon-Negros/Cebu/Bohol/Siquijor (KR-NCBS) of the CPP-NPA in a joint Army and PNP operation at Sitio Victory, Brgy Minapasok, Calatrava, Negros Occidental on July 30 at around 5 p.m.

It can be recalled that on July 10, 2020, the 15th Infantry (Molave Warrior) Battalion in a joint law enforcement operations nabbed four CPP-NPA terrorist officials in Sitio Mamposo, Brgy. Magballo, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.

Also on June 18, 2020, five members of the CPP-NPA Terrorist were killed in an encounter with the joint elements of 11th Infantry Battalion and PNP’s RFMB and local police in Sitio Talingting, Brgy Luyang, Mabinay, Negros Oriental around 12:45 a.m.

Major General Eric Vinoya, the Commander of the Army’s 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division lauded the efforts of the different 3ID Negros-based units for the synchronized efforts of ending the local communist armed conflict in the island as he challenged them to deliver the final decisive blow that shall cause the collapse of the enemy fronts operating in Negros.

“I thank every personnel under my command for the job well done. Every successful mission equates to hearing the clamor of the Negrenses for a genuine and lasting peace. Let us continue to carry out our task until the last enemy unit is dissolved and its members neutralized by either surrender, apprehension or, in worst case, dead,” Vinoya said.

“Our campaign against insurgency should have no let-up despite the threat of COVID-19. When everything goes back to normal after the pandemic, the people will be much happier if we offer them a relatively safer and peaceful Negros.” Vinoya added.* (MAJ. CENON C.
