DENR’s EMB 6 Acts on Complaints vs. VMC Distillery Plant in Manapla

Task Force Kasanag (TFK) founder-commander John Chiong said the complaints of Manapla and Cadiz residents against the VMC distillery plant in Manapla were also referred to him.

Chiong said residents were complaining because of the odor emanating from the plant, and the destructive effects of its wastewater, among others.

He also said he referred the matter to appropriate agencies, thus the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and its Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) under the Office of the Regional Director acted on the complaint, including the local governments of Manapla and Cadiz.

“The EMB continues to monitor the compliance of VMC, while we also do our part by supporting the people’s vigilance to make sure all requirements are being comied with,” Chiong said.
