Western Visayas logs 17th death, 50 new Covid-19 cases
The coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) claimed another life in Western Visayas raising the region’s total deaths to 17 as of yesterday.
The new death was reflected in the Department of Health Western Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD 6) Covid-19 bulletin No. 125, which showed the region’s 50 new confirmed cases and 22 new recoveries.
The 17th fatality was identified as patient WV 974, a 77-year-old male from San Carlos City, Negros Occidental. The last death in the region due to Covid-19 was reported on July 21.
As of yesterday, confirmed cases in Western Visayas already totaled to 1,208; 540 are active cases, 651 have recovered and 17 deaths.
The new cases were from the 1,276 laboratory results released by a sub-national laboratory and three molecular laboratories in the region.
Bacolod City logged the highest number of cases with 24 local cases and one locally stranded individual (LSI) followed by Iloilo City with 14 local cases and one returning overseas Filipino (ROF).
Meanwhile, Capiz has two LSIs; Guimaras, one LSI; Iloilo province has three ROFs and three local cases and Negros Occidental with one LSI.
As a whole, the region has six LSIs, five ROFs, and 39 local cases who were tested positive based on the result released.
Three authorized persons outside of residence (APOR) also tested positive for Covid-19 but they were tagged to cities of Taguig, Caloocan, and Navotas, all in Metro Manila.
Of the new cases, four have been admitted, 12 are under home quarantine and the rest are all facility quarantined.
The DOH bulletin also reflected 22 recoveries composed of 14 LSIs, five ROFs, two local cases, and one APOR.
Nine of the recoveries were from Iloilo, 12 from Negros Occidental, and one from Bacolod City.
