Bacolod City–Iloilo City Vice Versa Sea Trave Suspended
Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia temporarily suspended sea travel from Bacolod to Iloilo City starting 11:59 last night (July 26) until further advice.
Leonardia said he got confirmation from Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas who earlier suspended Iloilo to Bacolod vice versa trips, citing rising Covid cases in Bacolod.
Leonardia said it is impractical not to suspend trips from Bacolod when trips from Iloilo are suspended.
RO-RO TRIPS GO ON
Meanwhile, the Philippine Coast Guard at BREDCO Port in Bacolod said this morning it is still waiting for any advisory from the Negros Occidental and Iloilo Provincial Governments and from the local government of Dumangas in Iloilo on trips of roll on roll off vessels.
The Coast Guard said trips between Bacolod and Dumangas vice versa continue until an advisory is issued.
There are also ports in parts of Negros Occidental from where other seacrafts ferry passengers to some towns in Iloilo Province and vice versa.
Trips of fastcrafts between Iloilo City and Bacolod City are already suspended with the orders of Mayors Treñas and Leonardia, but no word yet as to the ro-ro trips between Bacolod and Dumangas, vice versa.
Netizens and regular travellers alike criticized the fresh suspension, saying the public must be informed at least two days ahead.
