Two Women Shot Dead in Bacolod
Two women were shot dead by a suspect who later stabbed himself inside the compound of Tough Star Engineering Works at Gonzaga Extension in Barangay Taculing, Bacolod City, at about 5:45 p.m. yesterday, July 24.
Police identified the victims as Aimee Mahilum and her sister Ema Jane Mahilum.
The suspect, who was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) in the city, was identified as Alvin Lanza.
Lanza’s co-workers told investigators that Ema Jane and Lanza are allegedly ex-lovers and she was there to pick up her older sister Aimee who works as a secretary of the firm.
When the sisters were already onboard Ema Jane’s Toyota Revo with plate number WBL 735, the suspect suddenly shot them, according to initial investigations.
Ema Jane sustained an injury on the head while Aimee was shot on her chest.
Lanza then tried to shoot himself but his .45 caliber gun jammed. He then looked for another weapon, found a knife, and stabbed himself. He was immediately rushed to the hospital.
Recovered from the scene of the crime was the murder weapon and an empty magazine.
