27 resorts, hotels in Bacolod, Negros Occidental get nod to operate

By Nanette Guadalquiver, June 17, 2020

The Department of Tourism (DOT) 6 (Western Visayas) has issued a certificate of authority to operate 27 accommodation establishments in Negros Occidental and Bacolod City effective June 15.

The list released by the DOT-6 on Tuesday covered 15 resorts and hotels located in the northern and southern parts of the province and 12 in this city.

In Resolution 43 of the Omnibus Guidelines on the Implementation of Community Quarantine, the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) stated that accommodation establishments may operate only upon the issuance of a certificate of authority to operate.

Earlier this month, both the DOT and the Tourism Congress of the Philippines (TCP) stressed the need for all accommodation establishments (AEs) to secure a DOT certificate of authority to operate before the resumption of operations under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ).

Both Bacolod City and Negros Occidental are under MGCQ.

“DOT-accredited AEs need only to submit to the DOT regional office with jurisdiction over their area the letter of intent to operate, while non-DOT-accredited AEs will need to apply for accreditation to ensure compliance with requirements,” the DOT and TCP said in a joint statement.

The AEs that resume operations without DOT accreditation and the DOT certificate of authority may be subject to the relevant penalties under applicable laws, rules, and regulations.

In Negros Occidental, accommodation establishments given the go-signal to operate are the Brazaville Beach Resort in Hinoba-an town; Bermuda Beach Resort, Buenaventura Beach Resort, Bugana Beach and Dive Resort, Driftwood Beach Resort, and Green Garden Beach Resort in Sipalay City;

Zaycoland Resorts, Inc. in Kabankalan City; Nature’s Village Resort, Kampo Hiyang-Hiyang Mountain Resort, and Campuestohan Highland Resort in Talisay City; Lakawon Island Resort and Spa, Magdalene Hotel, and RL Apartelle in Cadiz City; and Marino del Norte Resort and Manlambus Beach Resort in Escalante City.

Those already authorized to operate in Bacolod City are Check Inn Bacolod, Bantug Lake Ranch, Go Hotels Bacolod, GT Hotel Bacolod, L’Fisher Chalet, L’ Fisher Ecotel, L’Fisher Hotel, Nirvana Pension House, Seda Capitol Central, Stonehill Suites, Sugar Hotel Corp., and The Suites at Calle Nueva.*
