The Municipality of Cauayan, Negros Occidental recorded its second positive case of the Novell Corona Virus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) in a Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test result relayed late Friday night at Cauayan Isolation Facility.

This was disclosed by Mayor John Rey D. Tabujara who confirmed the RT-PCR result from a Locally Stranded Individual (LSI), tagged as Patient No. 2 of the Municipality of Cauayan, Patient No. 22 of the Province of Negros Occidental and coded as WV 143 by the Department of Health Western Visayas Center for Health Development.

Based on the records of Cauayan Isolation Facility, the LSI patient, the 37-year-old female from Barangay Inayawan, Cauayan, whose identity is being withheld, was a returning resident from Bo. Sta. Maria in Paco, Manila who rode a taxi to Pier 4 with her friend from Barangay Hilamonan, Kabankalan City on June 7, 2020.

They boarded a 2GO vessel on the same date and arrived at the port in Bacolod on June 8, 2020 where they were picked up by the provincial bus and transported to the E.B. Magalona Facility for swabbing.

Records further showed that she was swabbed on June 9, 2020 and was among the 30 locally-stranded individuals (LSIs) from Manila, Cebu, and Iloilo fetched by the Cauayan Municipal Bus (Soaring High) in E.B. Magalona town on the same day, to be transferred to the Cauayan Isolation Facility.

Records also revealed that the patient came out negative on a rapid test immediately done upon arrival at the Cauayan facility. She was placed in Isolation Room 4 together with LSIs of Guiljungan and Talacdan and showed no signs and symptoms from the day of admission until today.

Upon receiving the result, the staff of Cauayan Isolation Facility immediately transferred the patient in Isolation Room 2 for solitary confinement, while her companions in Isolation Room 4 were placed under close monitoring.

Mayor Tabujara stressed that Patients 1 and 2, being managed by a physician, are currently asymptomatic and are still confined at Cauayan Isolation Facility.

He asked that Cauayanons must wear the face mask all the time while out in public and observe social distancing and other precautionary health protocols.* (MCIO)
