Yanson 4 to question issuance of warrants if arrest for ‘carnapping’ of company vehicles
Roy Yanson, Emily Yanson, Ricardo Manson Jr. and Ma. Lourdes Celina Yanson-Lopez, known as the Y4, directors and majority shareholders of Vallacar Transit, Inc. (VTI) will question before the appellate courts the issuance by the Bacolod RTC Branch 53 of warrants for their arrest for alleged carnapping of vehicles owned by the company.
Atty. Carlo Joaquin Narvasa confirmed this in a press statement to the media yesterday.
Narvasa said, the case stemmed from a complaint filed by an employee of the company identified with the Y4’s rival siblings, Leo Rey Yanson and Ginette Dumancas (Y2).
“The Y4 have been involved since July last year in an intro-corporate dispute with their siblings, Y2. Despite their possession of 61% majority shareholdings in VTI based on SEC records, the 14 now face arrest,” the Y4 counsel ssid.
“There can be no basis for warrants of arrest to issue as the question of who between the two contending groups legally manages and operates VTI has not yet been resolved by the same court. The resolution of that issue will also determine the authority of the complainant to file suit involving the vehicles. By issuing arrest warrants without first resolving who between the two groups has authority to manage VTI and file complaints for it, the result of the pending intra-corporate case is now a foregone conclusion,” Atty. Narvasa added.
“The Y4 remain confident that truth, justice, and the rule of law will prevail, and that the charges against them will be proven unauthorized and untrue,” he also said in the statement.*
