Congress approves bill to set up Bacolod City General Hospital
The House of Representatives has approved the legislation proposed by city Lone District Rep. Greg Gasataya for the establishment of the Bacolod City General Hospital.
“I thank our colleagues in the House committee on health and the 18th Congress for helping us with the approval of this bill,” said Gasataya, the principal author, in a post on his official Facebook page today.
House Bill (HB) 6731 was passed on third and final reading yesterday.
The lawmaker filed the bill titled, “An Act Establishing a Hospital in the City of Bacolod, Province of Negros Occidental, To Be Known as the Bacolod City District Hospital, and Appropriating Funds Therefor” on July 1, 2019.
Gasataya cited the Department of Health (DOH) guidelines, which states that a tertiary general hospital offers services such as Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Emergency Services, and Outpatient Services.
It also provides Ancilliary and Support Services such as clinical laboratory, imaging facility, and pharmacy.
Facilities that may be included are physical medicine and rehabilitation unit, ambulatory surgical clinic, dialysis clinic, tertiary clinical laboratory with histopathology, a blood bank, and third-level X-ray.
Previously, Gasataya also authored HB 8835, which expanded the capacity of Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) here from 400 to 1,000 beds.
The CLMMRH is a health facility operated by the DOH.*
