San Carlos City on 6th Wave of Food Assistance

The City Government of San Carlos in northern Negros Occidental, through its City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) reached six distributions of food packs to vulnerable households of the 18 barangays this Covid-19 pandemic period.

 

Cynthia Mirande, City Social Welfare and Development Officer, said that since the beginning of the quarantine period in March until May, the city government assured the provision of free food supply to local residents especially those who were temporarily cut off from their jobs.

Mirande said the city has prepared 140,717 food packs with funds sourced out locally and from the P77M Bayanihan Grant to Provinces (BGP) program of the national government.

Mirande added that the distribution of 29,230 prepared relief goods to the barangays is still going on.

Each food pack contains 7 kilos of rice, five canned goods, biscuits, hygiene kit (bath & laundry soaps), monggo beans, sugar, milk, coffee, dried fish, noodles (bihon), various vegetables & root crops.

Aside from food packs, the city government is giving out packs of dressed chicken to 31,000 household beneficiaries of the 18 barangays and frontliners.

Breakdown on the distribution of relief goods to the 18 brgys are as follows:
First distribution – 15,054 packs on March 15;
2nd – 19,673 packs during the 1st week of April;
3rd- 22,765 packs on the 2nd week of April;
4th- 26,005 on the 3rd week of April; 5th- 27,990 on the 4th week of April; and 6th- 29,230 started on May 22.*. (CGS)
