Kabankalan City Civil Registry Office Celebrates 35th Civil Registration Month

The City of Kabankalan celebrated the Civil Registration Month in line with the mandate of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) to enforce civil registration functions across the country. This annual celebration is conducted in accordance with Presidential Proclamation No. 682, signed on January 28, 1991, by former President Corazon C. Aquino, which declared February as Civil Registration Month.
This year’s theme, “Building a Resilient, Agile, and Future-fit Civil Registration and Vital Statistics System,” underscores PSA’s commitment to modernizing and strengthening its systems for the benefit of all Filipinos.
The City of Kabankalan held a month-long series of activities to commemorate the occasion. The City Civil Registry Office of Kabankalan spearheaded the celebration, which began with a motorcade across the city on February 4, 2025. This was followed by an opening program and the distribution of PSA SECpa (Special Civil Registration Assistance) certificates to beneficiaries of the Birth Registration Assistance Program. On February 10, 2025, the Kasalan sa Kabankalan beneficiaries participated in a coastal cleanup activity at Barangay Daan Banua. This was followed by a final briefing and orientation at the Kabankalan City Function Hall. The Kasalan sa Kabankalan mass wedding ceremony was held on February 14, 2025, at Zaycoland Resort and Hotel, with 140 couples participating.
Mobile registration and information education campaigns were conducted at various schools and 32 barangays across the city to raise awareness about the importance of civil registry documents. Additionally, all Grade 1 pupils in selected elementary schools in the Upper Kabankalan area were verified and provided with SECpa birth certificates, aiming for 100% registration. In partnership with the Mayor’s Office, the Civil Registry Office also conducted mobile civil registration services (CRS) on February 18, 19, and 20, 2025, at the Kabankalan City Lobby, as well as National ID updating services to bring PSA services closer to the Kabankalanons.
Other notable activities included the PSA Quiz Bee – Employees Edition on February 19, 2025, and a Seminar on Civil Registration Laws for 150 barangay health workers and civil registry employees. The month-long celebration concluded on February 28, 2025, with the free transcription of birth, marriage, and death certificates, as stipulated under City Ordinance 2023-001.
Mayor Benjie M. Miranda, in his message expressed his appreciation for the active participation of various sectors in the CRM Celebration 2025, acknowledging their efforts in bringing essential services not only to Kabankalanons but also to neighboring towns.* (PR)
