September 9, 2024

Former Congressman Jules Ledesma said that if he is again given the mandate to represent the first district of Negros Occidental, he will “actively participate in the amendments proposed on the EPIRA.”

“I will review and consult with the stakeholders, the executive branch. We will amend (EPIRA) – where improvements in efficiency, resource allocation, in improving and even removing as well as adding essential element that will redound to best practices and least cost,” Ledesma said in his comment in social media.

The Electric Power Industry Reform Act of 2001 or the EPIRA law in itself sets out the reform agenda for the energy sector to be based on three principles: To ensure and accelerate the total electrification of the country, to ensure the quality, reliability, security and affordability of the supply of electric power, and to ensure transparent and reasonable prices of electricity in a regime of free and fair competition and full public accountability to achieve greater operational and economic efficiency and enhance the competitiveness of Philippine products in the global market.

Ledesma, in his reaction posted in the FB page of NDB, confirmed the statement of Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson that the former solon is running again for congressman of the first district in 2025 even just for one term. Ledesma was the district’s representative for several terms in the recent past.* (APT)
