P3-M Drug Busts: SK kagawad, 5 others nabbed in Bacolod

A Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) councilor and five other individuals were arrested in three separate buy-busts that yielded PHP2.96 million in shabu in Bacolod City, police reports showed.

On Monday, Joven Antoniano, 23, of Barangay 12, was caught in the company of alias Jess, 19, who sold PHP1,000 worth of shabu to an undercover policeman during the operation in Purok Sigay, Barangay 2 a few minutes past midnight.

Another individual, “JM,”18, a resident of Barangay 9, was also arrested.

In a report, the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) said the drug enforcement team of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) Station 2 seized 105 grams of shabu valued at PHP714,000 during the operation.

“Intelligence operatives received a report from a confidential informant that alias ‘Jess’ is engaged in illegal drug activities, distributing (the prohibited substance) in Barangays 2, 10, and 12,” it added.

During the operation, the police poseur-buyer encountered Antoniano and the other drug personality also buying shabu in the area, the report said.

“We will enforce the law with unwavering resolve, regardless of the position or status of those involved. Public officials, high-value individuals, or street-level operators alike will not be spared,” PRO-NIR director Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas said in a statement.

On Jan. 18, operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit arrested alias John during the operation in Purok Cubay, Barangay 40.

The 35-year-old drug personality, a resident of the same village, was found possessing 55 grams of shabu with a standard drug price of PHP374,000.

On the night of Jan. 17, two individuals were arrested during an operation of Police Station 8 at Purok Crossing 8, Old Runway in Barangay Tangub.

Operatives confiscated 275 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP1.87 million from the suspects identified as alias Jeffrey, 38 and alias Fernando, 39, both residents of Barangay Tangub.* (Nanette Guadalquiver/PNA)
