68th Batch Finish NFSP Skills Training

The 68th Batch of farm workers’ dependents and out-of-school youth finished their technical skills training in different TESDA-accredited courses from the NFSP Sugar Workers Foundation Technical Skills & Livelihood Training Center at Bacolod City recently.

Mr. Jaime G. Golez, NFSP Vice-President for Western Visayas, welcomed the graduates, their parents and guests.

NFSP Batch 29 graduate Alyssa Tupas Anderson, who now works as head of the radiology department at a hospital in Alberta, Canada, was the guest speaker. After finishing her computer course at NFSP Skills Training Center, Alyssa worked as a call center agent and worked her way until she landed the job in Canada.

“Every success story that you hear includes failure, doubt and pain. And I want you to remember that dearly, to embrace it, because I’ve gone through them. I myself experienced heartache, disappointment, failures and lose. And it’s ok, because at the end, your success will be measured not on material things or how much money you have, but on how you REBUILD YOURSELF when everything feels impossible,” she said.

“Batch 68, you are leaving this place with more than certificates. You are leaving with the responsibility to face life honestly, bravely, and relentlessly. BE AMBITIOUS! When you fall, get up smarter. And get up fast. Because if you work hard enough, with the right determination, courage, wit, and stamina — everything is possible. Fight for the life you want. And don’t give up,” Alyssa Tupas Anderson stressed.

Another NFSP Batch 29 graduate, Roland Rivera, who now works as a welder in Australia, also gave an inspirational message on his journey since graduation from the NFSP Skills Training Center until he landed his productive and fruitful job as a welder in Australia.

Christian Lagos, president of the Supreme Student Government, thanked NFSP officials for giving them the opportunity to study for free at the NFSP Training Center, and thus acquire technical skills which can use for their livelihood.

Established in 2002, the NFSP skills training center is a brainchild of NFSP officers headed by President Enrique D. Rojas. The training center offers TESDA-registered courses in Shielded Metal Arc Welding NC II, Computer Systems Servicing NC II and Automotive Servicing NC I.

“For more than twenty years now, the NFSP training center has produced more than 18,000 highly-skilled graduates. Most of our graduates have found gainful employment, and a substantial number of them are working abroad. We are happy and proud that NFSP has contributed to the upliftment of their lives,” said NFSP President Enrique D. Rojas.*
