SP OKs MOA Between Prov’l Gov’t, 8 LGUs for P50M Presidential Assistance Fund
The Sangggunian Panlalawigan of Negros Occidental approved the Memorandum of Agreement between the provincial government and eight local government units affected by Typhoon Tino so they can receive their share of the Presidential Assistance Fund from the national government.
Atty. Rayfrando Diaz II, provincial administrator, said on Wednesday that they decided to directly release the P50 million PAF to the affected LGUs.
The LGUs have already identified beneficiaries, he said.
Diaz said that based on the recommendation of Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, La Carlota City, La Castellana and Moises Padilla will each receive P10 million from the PAF.
Bago City, Binalbagan and Hinigaran will receive P5 million each, while Isabela and Potevedra will receive P2.5 million.
In the province, some 39,102 families, or 134,718 individuals, from its 31 LGUs were affected by the typhoon, according to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).
The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) reported a total of P20.4 million in damages to rice, corn, and fisheries.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., on Nov. 6, approved the declaration of a state of national calamity in light of the devastation of Typhoon Tino and Typhoon, Uwan.*
